Icon Coilovers Leaking Already...

I've had my brand new Icon front coilovers for about a month with no issues...all street driving. This past weekend I went to Barstow to do a Poker Run to finally have some fun with my new suspension. When I got to camp just off the main road I noticed a slight leak on the passenger side coilover (at the top of the threads). The next day I checked a few times during the run and it got a little worse. Here's a pic of it afterward.

The driver side coilover looked fine after the run but when I checked it after driving back from Barstow it had a very small leak (might be hard to see in pic below).

Guess I'll have to contact Icon. Don't really want to have to tear the front apart and have my daily driver out of commission.

I have been to ICON the previous two Mondays trying to get my stuff in before the Tuesday repair day. Both Mondays they fixed my problems in less than 15 min.Your deal looks a little different but in big picture no big deal.Yeah I understand they should not have had any issues but you got what you got. My case I went in ready to put up a stink but the results were better than I could have ever imagined.Don’t panic yet until you talk to them.Never the less good luck because it will no doubt be a pain in the as*.

It's possible that the seal was nicked on installation. The guys over at ICON are very good about helping with any issues. I've assembled many shocks and ran into a slight amount of weeping like you have from oil in the gland nut or top cap. Sometimes this is just a residual amount of fluid from assembly. Keep in mind that the shock is pressurized to 200psi. At that pressure a damaged top cap seal would be very obvious. If it were me, I would keep an eye on it. If the problem persists in a week or two bring them to ICON.

So I spoke to Todd at Icon and sent him the pictures as well. He said this is nothing to worry about and is just some residual oil/grease from assembly. That if it were a real leak there would be a lot more fluid coming out. He also said this could happen the first few times offroading, i.e. heating the shocks up.

I think Ryan hit it on the head, I will still keep my eye out and check it to make sure (it has not leaked any more since). I also went back and did a comparison of a picture when I first noticed it at camp and after offroading and I don't think it actually got any worse, but the added dirt made it look worse (stain went down 8 threads in each pic).

When I first noticed it I was hoping it was just some residual amount coming out (wishful noob thinking). It's a small amount so I don't feel I have to rush to start taking things apart. I like Ryan's advice of keeping any eye on it to see if it gets worse. I will probably still contact Icon tomorrow to see what they say and worst case start the process of getting them repaired.

One of the reasons I went with Icon is because I've heard very good things about their customer service...just didn't think I would need it so soon though..haha.

Wow.......that's a bummer about your Icons. I got mine used and freshly rebuilt and have been extremely pleased with all of the components.
Icon has awesome customer service, as a lot of the manufactures and vendors I've dealt with have, so I'm sure you'll get what you need from Icon. It's unaccepatable that yours are leaking already. Hopefully it is a one time deal and a whole batch weren't assemble wrong if that's what the case is.
Give Icon a call or shoot them an email. I got a phone call response within 15 minutes of my email about lower A-arm skids for the 2010+.
I'm partial to Icon because of the quality of mine and many others' suspension and their customer service. Hopefully they get it worked out for you.

This is the first time I have heard of this problem with icon. That's sounds like pretty good quality assurance to me. I take torture testing that ojedaxx does. 100k miles before a rebuild, that speaks for itself the way that Dave drives. Many icon fronts have outlasted major front fender tearing, mine included.
