Rooftop tent ceiling hoist / storage

Anyone played with the idea of using a Harken Hoister or Racor heavylift to store their rooftop tent on their garage ceiling? I like the idea of getting it off the floor and also it will make it easier to install / remove single handed.

I'm looking to do something similar to this one, but without removing the rack, just using some supports under the tent instead as it winches it up.

I'm interested to see if anyone else has done something similar!

I just Wish I had a garage tall enough to fit my FJ as it is. Wanting a garage tall enough to have one of these would make me cream my pants!

Mine has about two feet of clearance above the rack, 18 inches of tent, six inches of winch mechanism - it will be close!

I'm looking at the Racor. If there is room to mount it, I'm going for it. If not, I'm building a rolling wood rack. The tent will sit vertical to minimize the floor space it'll need.

My son and I built a hoist to remove the roof of his jeep just out of extra cable ropes we had around the garage. After we lifted it off the jeep we could raise it high enough to add a couple 2 x 4`s under it to support it. ( a kind of make shift shelf ) We could still park under it so it wasnt taking up space on the floor. Don`t have the jeep anymore but still use the hoist for lifting bumpers and the 2x4`s for storage.

Of course, single-handed installation and removal does assume you can drive into your garage with the tent installed. Which I can't . . . . ! <headslap>

It will however be a good place to store it at least.
