I've noticed that this little corner of the forum has been very quite and I thought I would share a little bit of what I've been up to with my FJ40. A couple of months or so ago I decided that it was time to rebuild the engine on my 40(I wish this was the reason I decided to yank the engine). The actual story consisted of me messing with a new pointless distributor and not pushing the distributor down enough to engage the oil pump and seizing the engine.
ut: In my defense it was running amazing right up until it seized! This being my first engine rebuild, I asked my dad for guidance. Yesterday we spent the day tearing the engine apart, I had already removed the engine from the truck. Spending the day working on anything mechanical with my dad is the best Christmas present I could have asked for. We got it down to a bare block, and now I'm ready to send it out for line drilling and boring and getting the crank ground. One of the crank journals was slightly damaged, so it should just need grinding. I have this amazing book that came with my 40 on rebuilding the engine. It has every spec imaginable! Anyway here's some photos, I spaced on taking a few of the bare block and pistons. If anybody knows a good place to get a crank ground and block bored and drilled let me know.
