So here is the deal. Don't get to excited yet, I might not be able to pull this off. The company that brought us the 2 roads to Baja and the 2 roads to Taupo are clients of mine. In more detail. I got to hang out with the CEO's wife today for a while and she stops in from time to time at my office just to see what is new in the world of Home Theater Audio Video Equipment and to say hi to me and my boss. They are buying a new house and I will be there at the new house doing a bunch of work. So I will have a chance to hang out with the CEO all day. I am gonna hold back his name for now. But If you have one of the DVD's you will know what company I am talking about.
So here is what I am gonna propose is a weekend up in the Mohave Desert with a bunch of us local guys. Maybe I will ask our fearless tour guide leader (uphill) to see if he will be down for something like this also. The CEO has alway liked my rig, as it is not as nice as some of the rigs out there, but I guess it is good enough for him to make the comment.
Here is what I am hoping for. The CEO and a few Crew guys, some camera guys that can come along and ride with a few of us. Some action footage, in car interviews, and so-on. All in hopes that this will make it maybe onto the speed channel. Of course we would have to do all this for free. But, I was thinking "who cares" If we get all our rigs on TV that would put us so far ahead of the rest of the FJC community. I don't see how they can compete with us/this. ;D
On July 3, I will be hanging out with the family and will bring it up and see what his reaction is and get a feel for what the possibilities for this happening is. As I understand it, the CEO's company is Toyota's advertising media wing. He told me about two years ago when I got my rig that he wanted one. So that is a plus. Worse case is all he will say is no and then I will leave it at that.
This got me thinking that we have seen a few FJ's now in racing action. But most of us can not afford a race built FJ and most of us use our rig as a trail runners, rock crawlers, and many other uses. I thought it would be cool to see us normal people with non race built FJ's doning stuff that they were more or less intended to do. Cheers.
