Best means:
(1) Tastes Good
(2) Can be made easily and quickly
(3) Clean up isn't much of a problem
(4) Should be cooked. A warm meal is always better in the morning.

I'm thinking it might be a brown bag breakfast: You take a small brown paper bag, two or three strips of bacon each cut in half, a hash brown patty and an egg (with salt and pepper).

Put the bacon in the bottom of the paper sack, put the hash brown paddy on top (frozen works), crack the egg on top and add salt/pepper to taste. Fold the top of the sack over a couple of times and then put a stick through the top to hold it over the fire.

The bacon grease will permeate the sack as the bacon cooks and will prevent the egg and contents from burning. You cook it until it's done (judgment) and they take from where you've suspended it over coals (NOT FLAME), tear the top off, eat it (sorta tastes like paper), and toss the used bag back into the fire. I like using a plastic fork so you can throw that in the bag. ZERO clean up.

Nice one Larry with the brown bag breakfest idea. :)

One I found on another site that I keep wanting to try.

Orange Cup Cinnamon Rolls

4 Oranges
1 Can of Biscuits
Cinnamon
Powdered Sugar
Little bit of Milk

Directions:
Cut 1/3 of the orange off and scrape pulp from the insides of both pieces. Take 1 biscuit and mash out. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar and cinnamon and layer with another biscuit and repeat. Usually takes 2 or 3 biscuits. Roll up the layered biscuits and put into the hollowed orange. Add about a tablespoon of powdered sugar on top and a teaspoon of milk. Replace top and wrap in tin foil. Place in coal of fire for about 30 minutes. Remove, unwrap, pull top off and out pops a delicious cinnamon roll with a hint of orange.

Dominic, that's the breakfast of champions!
I think that sex is the breakfast of champions. Dom has the rooftop tent and Ursula.

Besides that there is always the cornflakes option - but it's not warm.

Knowing how innovative FUNJUNKiE is, I expect a truly innovative method for making choriso and eggs (a personal favorite) with NO clean-up. I thought of making a foil dinner around a double-wrapped burrito with hash browns, a previously boiled egg, some choriso, etc.

Have you eaten them yourself? Did the ham soften with the heating process? It's not Green Eggs and Ham is it?

Easy prep and clean up? How about "heat some water, pour in bag, eat from bag, toss bag in recyclable waste container"...

It's a 2008 "Gold Taste" winner!

I may like the Mountain House product, but I definitely don't like Green Eggs and Ham.

I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I do not like them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham.

I haven't tried the eggs... On the Mohave run, we had Beef Stew, and some kind of Pasta with a red sauce. Both were pretty tasty. The preparation ease is the best part. All I needed was a measuring cup, and a way to heat/boil water. It will all soften, if you wait long enough. Patience is a key factor.

I'll grab one of the breakfast packs next time I'm at REI or other store, and give you a full report.

cant go wrong with the new version MRE's either. theres only 2 that I don't really like but will still eat, and the instant heater bag rocks.
Absolutely true.

The new MRE's breakfast omlets are nearly restaurant quality. Where can I get the real thing these days? (I accept no substitute for the genuine article)

This is BY FAR, the easiest and best camp/trail breakfast and it's simple. One pan to clean up, maybe.

Pipers' Chilaquiles:

Cover the bottom of an iron skillet with Nacho Doritos, add in some previously cooked or a can of chicken, a few raw eggs loosly scrambled, a generous amount of your favorite salsa, some sour cream, and top the whole dam thing off with about 1/2 inch of grated cheese. Cover and cook on med low heat until all the cheese is melted and bubbley. If you didn't want to mess up plates and utensils to eat this with, you could scoop it out and put it into a warm flour tortilla to make a burrito.

Another fun one is Egg in a hole:

Cut a circle out of a piece of bread using a small cup pressed against a flat surface to "cookie cutter" it out. butter up a nonstick pan and place both pieces of bread (the outer and inner pieces) in the pan next to each other. With a med heat, crack an egg in the center, salt and pepper, and wait until egg if half cooked. Flip the bread pieces over with a large spatula (one will now have a fried egg in the center) and finish cooking on the other side.
