I'm looking to upgrade and I went to the K&N website. It clearly states that the CAI's are NOT street legal in California. So what is everyone doing, just ignoring the law and doing them anyways, or am I looking at the wrong devices?

1) The k&n is not a real CAI. The only TRUE CAI's are the AFE/TRD, Volant, and the highly restrictive stock intake.

2) Just about anything you do to your vehicle is illegal in CA in some way or another

aFE is the way to go. You just missed a 15% off deal they had. Wait for a sale.

AND....keep all the parts and instructions, so in a couple years when you have to go in for SMOG inspection, you can put the factory stuff back on.

Yes, illegal, but never heard of anyone getting stopped for this. Piss of the cops, and they might go looking, but otherwise should be fine.
