Maybe they were new before your last visit, and not "since" your last visit? That'd be my guess. If someone posted a new item in between, then it would show; if they only posted before your last visit, than it would fall out of the query.

you need to physically log out when you leave for it to work the next time you log on

new posts and threads show up for me even if i don't log out.
