2012, 6 speed manual transmission, 54,000 miles. When starting from a stop, I get a little rumble for a second or two. Only noticeable in first gear. I can start slowly which will not produce rumble. Very little off roading and when I do it's just dirt roads. A mechanic told me it's not clutch related but I can't remember what he said it could be.

I remembered what he told me and I believe he is right; it is the clutch. There was a time, last year, when I was on a road that has very tight three point turns. At one switch back, I was in 4x4 low and in first gear. I had to hit the gas hard and use the clutch to do the turn. I could smell the clutch.

As a result of this, my mechanic said there are some uneven places on the clutch plate. A couple of weeks ago, I got the idea to do a couple of starts in fourth gear in front of my house. To my surprise, the rumbling is gone. I know starts like this are not advised so this is the only time I will do this.
