I'm considering adding a fairly high end photo gallery to the forums. It would give users their own gallery, allow for picture ratings and commenting, and direct posting to threads. The only thing is that it would increase the amount of bandwith and server storage space needed for the site, and in return raise the price of hosting.

What do you guys think? Is it something you see being beneficial to the forums? Would you be willing to contribute/ donate a few bucks for the software and hosting fees?
I would keep the same hosting setup we are using for the meantime, until I see exactly what would be needed.

I'm cool with the way it is, especially with all the free hosting out there nowadays. I can only see the gallery causing more issues than it is worth.

I would be more than happy to contribute to the site.

My only concern with adding a gallery is that we will continue timing out when uploading photos.

I'm working on fixing the timeout error. It's something in the PHP code that needs to be changed. I wouldn't add the gallery without fixing that first.

I think most of the free sites have the task pretty well licked. I just see this as adding to your time/energy trying to please all of us to make it work the same as the free sites.

And, since we're all still posting up to 2 or more sites a lot of the time, might as well have a third party host.

We have lots of other options that are free, and this would only cost us and slow us down some.

I don`t think we need a gallery we post up the pictures when we are done with a run and then after a week no one looks at them anymore anyway. The way we do it now works fine.

Do you have to pay for emoticons?? on one of the sites I host there is an Admin CP option that has a huge list of them to drag over to your site. Some of them are not too family freindly but they are an option. I would be supprised if this site didn't have the same option, as mine is cheap a$$ Invisionfree hosting.
