2010 FJ Cruiser, never had a problem other than mice chewing a wire up! Was showing 1/4 tank of gas and in fairly busy traffic just shut off. Pulled over to side of road -- my husband and 2 young guys came along and pushed into a Bev Mo parking lot. Getting dark, couldn't find anything wrong. Finally decided it acted like it was out of gas. Husband walked to gas station, bought a gas can and put in 1 gallon. Started right up. Drove to gas station and it took 20 gallons and shut off at $99 (thanks California). No fuel light ever came on -- have never seen that in this FJ because I usually fill by quarter of tank. My tripometer showed 338 miles so yeah it was empty! Don't usually go by that, but guess now I will. I read others have had this issue -- can't find a recall for it. Read up on a gauge (IMBD2?) which keeps track of gas? Good idea? Also, is there a fuse that might be burned out and thus no low fuel light? Any help welcome. Thanks!

I've got a 2012 and the gage was acting stupid but I went to the gas station ⛽ and clicked fuel lever until it would not add anymore fuel and ever since the gage has been totally accurate and I gained about a 1/4 of a tank each fill-up lol

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. My husband filled it until it wouldn't take anymore -- and it was showing 20+ gallons. I know it says the tank only holds 19, but clearly not. I always set my tripometer and will just be keep a closer eye. Never had the low gas light ever come on. Used to in my 4-Runner.
