While I'm thinking of it. How about having a area where we have a list of people who are "on call" if anything happens in our area during any given week. This is a rotating list that people can sign up for and they would be the first to address any issues along the trail.

One more, hook up with the search and rescue for the area. Develop a relationship that benefits both groups.

It's been a while but I used to teach basic website design too. I'll try to spend a little more time on it before Sat for some more ideas.

Why don't you give a few of us access to edit the website and we can at least populate it with crap then all you have to do is make it look pretty I mean Cool. You're good at that.

Haha, nobody said yours isn't! I'm actually working right now on setting up a Content Management System as the back end of the site so that a few of us will we able to log in and add content. Hopefully I'll have it ready to start giving a couple people log-ins by the end of the week, or beginning of next. I'm going to be using Joomla, which is a pretty powerful CMS, with a TON of features. I think everyone will be very happy with how it ends up.

OK everyone...the new site is up and functioning properly. It's still going to undergo a graphical face lift.

There is a little bit of content right now, as this will be a work in progress, and constantly growing. Content will be updated frequently and there will be more and more sections as time goes on.

PLEASE register for the site using the SAME user name that you use here. It will make it a lot easier for us to keep track of who is who.

Once you've registered, take a look around, leave a comment in the "Chatter Box"...whatever else you feel like doing

If you have suggestions for features, etc., please send me a PM or email.

Also, if you are SERIOUSLY interested in helping with the content (writing/ publishing articles, trail information, etc), contact me. This is definitely not a one man job!

Sorry guys, I've been looking mainly at the blue forum. Didn't mean to drop some suggestions then disappear. But I did have a chance to take a look at the website. And it looks like it's off to a great start. I'm curious how you like that CMS software? I was wondering if it has a mobile client for use in any smart phones??

The suggestions I mentioned are things that I've seen and or experienced being in a similar situation as you. They are just ideas and/or suggestions I definitely don't want to step on anyone's toes in making them. With that said I'd be happy to contribute whatever I can. Let me know where you can use the help right now and I'll see what I can do.
