New Website and contents

Piper came up with the idea of having a website and have gone ahead and graciously purchased domain name for 5 years (which is no chump change)! Matt also volunteered to work on the site. :) Thank you both!

If you have suggestions for content or are willing to be responsible for a certain segment of the site, I would really welcome the help.

I think we should have the following "buttons"
  • Welcome: info about why the site and our purpose.
  • Forum: Link to forum
  • Member: Short member intro pages
  • Resources: Files such as maps, laws on land, articles on wheeling, etc.
  • Calender of events: with link to write up
  • Pictures and movies
  • Links: SBNF info,

Matt, maybe we should have a shared photobucket account so we can upload all our pics there?

Doug, I think the resource page will need a lot of content.
Land issues and concerns
Basic off roading vehicle prep
Recovery equipment and usage
Trail etiquette
What to do in case of emergency
Contacts and resources
Trail maps and area maps
etc.

This will need constant updating and more then 1 person to help. Of all the sections, this one will need the most attention. Maybe you and Tim can get started on it? We'll have more help as more people trickle into the site.

Matt, do you think you can make a forms page for Member info? That way they can just submit it instead of you updating it?

Dom,

Much appreciated :).

Post the password so we can share. When you do upload a file, please add in descriptions and put them in the appropriate folder.

ex. folder name:
AAT-May 31 2008 Prerun
AAT-June 7 2008 3N59A
Please try to keep your pictures as large as possible also.
SN: SoCalFJC
Password: password

How large do you need them to be? :)

1024 big enough?
Ok. I uploaded some pics already. I know Doug has more then I do.
I would like to see the pick of my at Cleghorn Tony if possible. My original vision for the website was to post some static information and maybe a calendar of events to promote our Adopt-A-Trail efforts and show off some pics and write ups of our work and intentions. I thought this way, people who just want to quickly see what we're up to (Rangers, other off-road groups, etc...) would not have to filter through all the crapola on these forums. I think the forum is the place to hash out ideas, and the website would be the place to post the results. I like the idea of resources as well (maps, trail reports, etc.) Come to think about it, I like the idea of a members rigs where we can post up WITHOUT the umpteen billion responses. I am however agains a "Club" with rules and meets and dues and would hope that is not the direction this would ever head to. Hey, we are the SoCal FJ Cruisers, but it doesn't have to be a club right?

We're not a club... we are a friendly, organized mob.

Where did you get the idea that we're a club? We're too cool to be a club. ;D

The member's section is a short description of who we are and how our rigs are prepared. Something very short. It'll be a snap shot. It's not a write up or anything.

Piper, I'll email you the pictures.
