Need to replace the bolts for the traier hitch. (dont ask) The Toyota supplied bolts have a hex flange built in to them. Is a metric grade 8 bolt with grade 8 washer just as strong? Having trouble finding the flanged bolts.

Thanks.
Actually went to Hillco fasteners and they set me up with grade 8 bolts and washers. Everything is fine now. They were surprised that the supplied bolts were only grade 5.

The reason I changed them was when I was installing the hitch, I could not get the stock bolts to sinch at 80 ft lbs. I pulled the bolts out and found that 1 was stretching. The new grade 8 bolts tightened up perfectly. (yes, I have a fresh, well maintained torque wrench)

This is the 3rd FJ hitch I have installed and had no issues with the 2 before.

The G5 bolts are definitly more likely to bend or strech. the G8 are harder and more durable but over tourquing them will cause them to snap instead of bend. Both have their good and bad points but for the most part properly installed g8's are the better of the 2
