It looks like this
Yeah but what will it look like???
My personal opinon would be to save a little more cash and go with this: Specialized Bicycle Components
Specialized limits their dealers so they cannot sell OVER or UNDER set prices. On Specialized website their prices are mostly at the "MAX" retail. I think the "LOW" for this bike is around $600...
I'd personally go w/ the Specialized because the frame will ride smoother and be more responsive. Parts wise they're all a small step above the Gravity.

After you factor in the $65-125 extra you will spend taking the Gravity into the LBS to get adjusted, you're only saving ~$120 up front. Now add in the fact that Specialized has LIFETIME warranties on their tires (meaning you can exchange them ANY time you want. ie: getting a slash in the tire from s*** in the road you can replace it for free), and depending on the LBS they may offer a one year or lifetime "tune-ups" with their sale.

In my mind, it's a no brainer...
im sure there are enough bike enthusiasts here who can dial it in for you once you get it.

whats your budget btw? craigslist has killer deals. my prized ride that i use as my dd is a litespeed arenberg with full ultegra.
got it complete for 750 off craigslist. i felt bad but i dont think the seller realized what they had in their hands haha.

Valid points......However in Socal Specialized has VERY bad rap now as they have screwed over some very good LBS that used to rep them very well. Depending where you live in So Cal you might find a good shop that still sells Specialized but it's getting rare.
craigslist for the win, you can find some steal of a deals on there

Can you fill me in please? I worked in LBS from 17-23 years old... it's been a few years since I've been in the industry, so this is ALL NEW news to me.

Check out Cambria Bike Outfitters. They were my LBS while up at Cal poly. They always have really big sales, and what I like is that they always have a huge amount of overstock so you can find parts that may be a few years old but brand new for almost free. They could set up anything for you for a seriously low budget if you don't mind rocking a "old" new bike.
I built my all mtb custom to match my weight using a 03 stinky frame they had still in the box, nice components and out the door for a 140mm full suspension bike I think I only paid around 700 or 800

Older thread but seemed like the correct place to post this. Building a beach/camping bike to match the FJ.
Starting with an inexpensive fat Mongoose I bought just for the frame and wheels and going from there.....
