I just picked up a Standard rack this week and there is a gap between the rear mounting plates and the rig. Does anyone else have this problem? Will I have problems with water leak?
Hmm that's what I have and there are no gaps at the mounting points, are all your bolts tight and did you use silicone at the bottom of each plate? Pictures?
Make a rubber gasket.. You can use a piece of rubber from a roll up garage door and cut it to fit. Works great for aftermarket roof rack. They sell it at home depot..
First I would loose all bolts and tighten rear bolts first to see if it fit any better then proceed to tighten the other 8 bolts..
i managed to break 2 of the bolts that hold the basket to the mounts.. D: gotta go to the hardware store for replacements now. on another note, I found out the reason why the rears weren't flush. the rubber gasket that was on the oem screw came off the screw and was on top of the hole for the bolt.
