Remember, he lead a group out there a couple of weeks back? :)
OK, I'm confused on how the hours work. Mine might need to be adjusted. is he saying that he got 84 hours or the group trip was 84 hours? If it is the group trip that was 84 hours, will there be people confused and also post up their individual hours thus creating illegitimate data?

So as I understand it, the hours are calculted by total round trip i.e. from the time I leave my door until I return home? I would assume that time would exclude time spent on other trails not related to arriving or departing the 3N59A, is that correct?

Here is an example of what I mean:

I went to Big Bear to go to Oktoberfest this last weekend. Here is a breakdown of my 3N59A hours:

3 hours drive from my home to parents cabin, 1.5 hours drive from my parents cabin to 3N59A trailhead, 1 hour on 3N59A, 1 hour return to cabin, 2 hour drive home the next day. If I were the only one in the vehicle signed up for maintenance that would be 8.5 hours correct? If I took my father with me and he helped, it's still only 8.5 hours cuz he's not a legitimate trail caretaker, correct? If my father signed up then he would post his hours seperate even though he road with me, correct? What I'm not counting is all the other trails we did not related to arriving or departing 3N59A, the time I spent drinking at Oktoberfest, sleeping, etc... Do I have this all right or am I way off?

I'm not trying to be an A$$, it's just happening by accident ;) I am a stickler for standardization and am just making sure we are all logging hours in the correct/same way.

Dave's hours were a culmination of all the people in his group-from leaving home to coming back.

If you brought people to the trail and they were involved in helping you then they count too. Hours start from when you left home to back. In your case, you should count the hours you spent getting from home to cabin, working on the trail, and getting back home. The time you spent from going from your parent's cabin to the trail should not count unless it's on the way. If you have 3 other people in the car and they helped, then you should multiple your hours by 4 for your grand total.

Clear? :)

Got it. Thanks for the clarification and yes, my parents cabin was on the way. Therefore, change my hours thus far to 3 hours up to the assessment, whatever the assessment was, then 6 hours the next day and 3hours home. My trip the other day would now be 17 hours. :)

So far I have 29, not including the actual time on the assessment. please add that is. :)

Can you give me the date that you achieved those hours? The program fiscal year was up in September I think. I'll need to double check. Thanks for all the work! You've already put in more then some clubs. :D

Tony can you please explain the whole hour thing. And is all this time tax deductible along with any cost we have while volunteering?

Also when you get a chance can you PM the rangers number so I can get all the stuff back to him. I'm heading up there this weekend with my church and would like to drop it off if I can.

Josh, scroll up a couple of posts. :)

Gas, repair, mod (related to trail), supplies, tools, etc are all tax deductible. As long as it's related to working on the trail or getting there, it's deductible.

Sweet I need to start a file keeping track of all my data. :) And another question for you, going off what you told Piper I would add up my time from my house to the cabin then from the time we left the cabin till the time I got home or the time I got to your Parents? to your parents its 17.5 to my house its 19

My hours for the last run are 19.5

.... dang what a long day.
It was a long day for sure, I've been tired all week from it, and I even called in sick on Monday so i could get some sleep.
