Ok, so I was reading through the Hodad's thread this morning and FunJunkie threw out a suggestion for a topic that is close to the GOOD EATS thread in that we should post our favorite places to eat and what their specialty is and we could do more food oriented gatherings, each time sampling a different location.

Personally, I think this is a great idea so I'm gonna pick up the torch and move it closer to the final goal..

Here's what I was thinking.. Each month, one of our members picks a restaurant, date and time and we all meat errr.. meet up and share a meal. The key here is to try and make it a monthly event and to have a new / different member pick the location each month.

I think this would be a great way to build upon the comraderie between our members as well as give us a yet another reason to get together and eat, drink and be merry!

Is anyone else interested in this sort of gathering?

Count me in...I'll have to do most of the traveling since I live out in no mans land with Jeshua but that's half the fun! The good thing is I live in Temecula wine country and I know alicia had mentioned putting together a wine tasting get together, which I agree would be cool!!! I'll be busy during the month of may due to work but I should still be able to get to the first luncheon...gimme a time and place and I'll try to get there! After May I'm game whenever, wherever!!!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.. One of the places on my list is a rib joint in San Clemente (The Rib Trader) and it's a bit pricey.. Well worth it, but pricey none the less.

I'm there with Moe. We should definitely do a wine tasting event some time too. There is a great one that is smaller and more quaint; and they have a nice area to sit and relax; and sometimes live music; I'm sure we could spend the whole day in that one winery. hahahaha.

Well I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for whoever is picking the location to post up on pricing, parking, seating and any other special requirements that there may be for the particular place their taking us. I was thinking about a place down in San Diego called "The Godfather", Alicia took me there for my birthday and it was the best italian food I've ever had but it's not really a place I'm gonna invite the crew too cause it's more of a couples romantic dinner place...I will however bring ya'll to Sonnys or a place like that cause I know they could handle us. It's up to the person picking to make sure the place can handle the crowd that we'll be bringing!

Rib Trader!!! Yummy, haven't been there in a while...the fried mushrooms are bomb.com!!!!! Plenty of parking for the FJ's there also!!!

Since the wife and I both love wine (we are semi-wine snobs) we would be up for any wine tasting gathering! In fact, we have them at our place on occasion. Heck, and since we frequent the Temecula area quite a bit, we have to get you and other friends we have out there together when we come out!

Wow this Idea took flight quick. sweet, I have another suggestion, we should all post our favorites with details of course but then to make it fair we should pick a different geographic area each time so one area isn't always driving the long drive every time. I nominate Shogun, it's a Japanese style teppanyaki steakhouse like bennihanna only cheaper. but the grill tables are huge, they can accomidate about 10 people a table and if we make reservations we can get the party room with 2 giant grill tables. A bit pricey but the food is excellent and it's always fun to watch the skills and tricks of the teppan grillmasters.

FunJunkie, I'll start "The Official FJ Gourmet" thread and you can repost your pick of restaurant there. It is up to you to also pick the date and time. All that can make it, will.
