Hey guys I need to get a CB radio bad, definitely before the viking run, and i don't want a hardwired setup just a portable simple cb with a mag mount antenna i can use just for offroad trips, I was looking at this cobra cb from costco, anyone ever used one of these or tried it out, can't seem to find reviews on it, let me know before i bite the bullet and order it. Thanks guys ;D

That's always a good radio. Just be sure to use an external antenna (like a magnetic mount from Radio Shack, etc), unless you do as I did and hook up the Bandi Mount with 4' firestick antenna. Don't rely on the antenna of the hand-held radio. The transmit/receive radius is VERY small.

That ones cool, but, I like this one, and I'll explain why...

With the Cobra you are looking at, what does it use for power? In the Midland that I linked to, it has three options that are all included. 1 - an adapter to hook up to a cigarette lighter, 2 - a rechargeable battery pack with batteries and charger, 3 - a second battery pack that uses alkaline AA battery's.

The one thing it does not have, is the magnetic antennae, but they have those for about $25....

I also have the Midland 75-822. It does NOT have 2 handsets....it's 2 handsets in one! You can use the car power (via 9V plug) with the external antenna (like I have), or you can out on the battery pack (either the rechargeable or the AA battery pack) and use it as a walkie-talkie. It's VERY versatile. I love my Midland!!
