DWPhopeful, I also got an 87. when I saw that 78 people were head of me it scared the hell of out me, because I've been trying for years to get in. But, after reading through the forum I realized that we have good chance of making it!!!

Question? If DWP is testing again for steam plant assistants this weekend does that mean there will be a separate list? or are they combining the new group with the group of 2014?

I bought the Steam Plant Assistant passbook. It was worthless for the Civil Service Exam. What a waste of time and money that was! haha

Does anyone know if the passbook is good for the second exam in this process? Is it similar to the Steam Plant Assistant Test? If not what should I study? Any help is appreciated.[/QUO

My opinion the ASVAB is the closet to the EXAM, hopefully this helps!

SayWhat, just to be clear.......The city is testing again (not the practical portion) because there is not enough people on the current list to meet the hiring needs? and once the current list is exhausted and the city will move on to the current group being tested.

Hello everyone! I had a question regarding those of us on the current eligibility list, is the new group about to take the performance test in Jan will they be added to the current list or will the current list expire?

I'm just trying to gauge whether or not i still have a chance.

The list will merge. If somebody scored higher on the upcoming test. They will be before you on the list. You will stay on the list til the list expires.

@BigCity - I think around 60-80 people were at the written test (more or less). According to one of the test proctors it was a small turn-out. Whoever passed with a curved 70% will be at the performance test. Some people had to of failed. So 60 or less maybe- I could be wrong though. I'll be there. I'm real out of shape so hopefully I don't blow this! haha

Also ask how many groups will be doing the performance test too.

@Big City - 16 out of 20 people showed up today. Theres one more group after this doing the performance test. I assume another 20

I fumbled on the verbatim test. Hope I did well overall.

Dammit I got a 79. I'm ranked 39. Am I basically **** out of luck?

Not necessarily you still have a chance of making it. Did any of the testing personnel mention how long they plan on keeping the open list open till? Typically its two years but I've heard rumors that it will be three years.

I was told two years by someone in the personnel department. I was also told I am ranked 39 out of 302 on the eligible list and they usually take the top ten for interviews. She said in the long run I have a decent chance for an interview, MAYBE. haha whatever that means. I'll hope for the best. It is what it is.

When they ask you if you want the job, say yes.

also don't lie (even remotely) about anything anywhere.

Finally ask during the interview when the possible class start date will be and clear off this entire 10 day span. Even the weekend in between. the only people who didn't pass didn't or couldn't properly clear their schedule and study 100% of their waking hours.

Thanks for the update lambic. DWPhopeful i spoke with a women in HR and schedule an interview date for March 1st, but i'm still waiting for the email regarding the location (Human resource personnel said Long Beach) When's your interview date?

I was able to get ahold of someone in the internal generating dept. The person stated that if not that many ppl respond (and she said not alot responded), that they will continue to email ppl who are available with a possible interview date...i have not recieved an email about anything like the others...but the person did state a possible start date of april 18th...anybody in the Q...i dont think ima get in...

Im not gonna disclose any info on were it was held...but there were quite a few potential candidates....seems like they need to fill quite a few dozen positions...late spring is around the time from what was said...

I got in...medical is next week...now, i just have to prepare mentally for the eval course:rofl:

I also got the call yesterday.....!!!!! So I'll be seeing you DWP April 18th! I can't believe it, its so surreal.....it almost felt like a fantastic. +
