Well, the good news is I don't have to worry about the chips in my windshield playing connect the dots and forcing me to replace it any more.

The bad news is:

(see thumbnail below since the picture thing is still kicking my a$$)

Driving on a dark section of Crown Valley in Laguna Niguel last night about 50mph and then BAM!

Not sure what hit us, but my neighbor says Owl. Not sure if you can tell in the picture, but the center of the web is about four inches paccros with no cracks and there is no chip at all so it makes sense that is was somthing soft but with some mass. Drove back over the area looking for what hit us, (and any kids that might have thrown something who were about to get the beating of their lives if I found them), but no rocks and no owls.

Sorry to hear that! I hit a pigeon once (in another car) and it left the greasiest smudge I've ever seen. Glad to hear you are OK too.

Thanks Dave. Yeah, it was directly in front of Jean's face so if it had been something hard it could have been scary

Damn! Are you sure you didn't hit a basketball!? That is HUGE!
Some sort of ball would be a good call, but there is a bit of a dusty inprint in the center that looks like feathers or fur but not consitant like the surface of a ball.

It was pretty freaky, just cruising along then a loud bank and the windshield instantly became a spider web.

Don't let the PETA people hear abou this. They will call u a nazi for ruthlessly hunting down an owl and running it down like the Germans would have with the Jews. Sorry, still pi$$ed about the 30 Days comment.

I am really concerned.

There is a guy out in the parking lot of my office replacing my windsheild right now and let's just say that he did not instill a huge amount of confidence when I met him.

He should be done any minute and I am not sure I am going to like what I find. Paranoid? Yes, but we shall see.

One issue, he was barely taller than the fender of the rig and working alone.

Will report the outcome soon.

By the way. I have seen wildly ranging prices for windsheild replacement on the blue forum.

This is an insurance claim, so the total cost is not that critical to me but I was surprised when the first two original quotes I got for OEM glass were $1050 and $1200

He is done, did a great job, even reinstalled my toll roads transponder.

FYI, the total charge from this company with OEM glass was just 530 installed. So if anyone has to replace thier windshield, I will give you the contact info, they were a joy to deal with.

hmmmmmmm.....Sort complex inferiority? :D

I managed to climb up on your rig and drill a 7/8" hole in it, install a grommet and seal it all without a ladder....Short people are powerful.

Dude, you are no where near short in comparison to this guy, I am serious, he was just above the hood height. I just couldn't picture how he was going to hold that windshield on his own without actually crawling around on the hood.

But, as you say, short people are powerful. He did an excellent job and I dont see any knee marks on the hood ;D
