Just a note of caution about driving in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs and surrounding desert) when it's windy.

This past Tuesday the wind was fierce here in the Coachella Valley. On my way to work driving on I-10, sand and debris was blowing everywhere and now my FJ is sandblasted and needs to be repainted. Also, the headlights and much of the glass is pitted and also needs to be replaced. Hopefully my insurance will pay for most of the damage.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your comprehensive deductible is not high, that's where a claim this like should be put. The company I write with would have no problem taking care of this.

If you need any help or advice shoot me a pm.

The same thing happened on the I 10 in 1965 to my brand new 1965 Mullet. It wae two weeks old. Ins payed the bill for new paint and glass. It was still a big pain. Good luck it should be as good as new. :)
WOW! You can get insurance on a hairdo? I did not know this. Cool I just learned something new. And Mullets were cool in 1965? I thought they were only cool with ***** women and white trailer trash. ;D

Hey Ace,

I had the same thing happen to me on the day the last BIG fire started. We were headed to Vegas, and after making some stops, I was on the 215 getting on the 15 where there were a couple big rigs blown over, and cars/debris everywhere. Had to drive through a flying river of sand and rocks. I've got a ton of pits in the paint on the passenger side, and jacked up glass. Windshield shows the angle, as most of the pits are on the passenger side.

Let me know how the insurance goes. At the time, and now, it seems like a huge hassle...BUT...next windstorm I might just decide to drive out there. :)
