Hello all, just thought I'd let ya'll know that I got a AFE CAI today...installed it myself in about 45 minutes with a couple beer breaks and I LOVE IT!!!! Took my buddy out and then took Alicia out and they were both amazed!!! I don't know why I went so long without it and can't imagine driving my FJ without it now!!!!!

Sweet bro, glad you got the good deal. sorry I had to cut the call short today but I was just getting my truck back from the service dept. Did you get the foam prefilter too? it's a good thing to have for dusty trail runs then take it off after. less filter cleaning.

funny, i was just about to post my install too (earlier in the week). took me a bit longer since i had to remove my winch kill switch, and trim off Larry's dual battery tray. i didn't think it would make much of a difference, but it just feels like the truck got a new lease on life. with all the mods and weight, the truck has just felt so sluggish. my ear may be playing tricks on my rear end, cause it sure feels like the FJ pulls now.

finished installing the aFe cat-back exhaust tonight as well. it took me a little under 2 hours. ended up taking a sawzall to the tailpipe cause 1 of the 2 bolts aft of the muffler wouldn't budge (similar problem with many others). also had to take off the x-member for the rasta skids in order for the midpipe/muffler to be fully removed. i'm sure if i did it in the daytime, it would have been much faster. ;)

drove it around the block a few times, but it wasn't enough to really get a feel for it. sounds a bit louder than with just the CAI, but doesn't feel like any performance was gained. maybe the ECU just hasn't had the time to learn yet.

Spent Sunday wheeling, and had a fair amount of seat time behind the wheel. When I said it "sounds a bit louder than with just the CAI," I was wrong, it is way louder. Too loud. At this point, if I hadn't cut off the tail pipe after the stock muffler, I'd be inclined to go back to the OEM setup.

Does it improve MPG? Or kill it? I can`t believe how rusted your stock muffler is already. I think I am going to check out mine and see if mine looks that bad. Its only 2 years old I wouldn`t think it would look that bad.

while there is some rust, what you see is caked on dirt/mud. the wet spot exhaust is JB blaster. ;D
