• Adopt-A-Trail: 3N59A

As the poll has indicated, most people would like to go back to our trail on 10/11/08 (Saturday) for our next trail repair day. Please head over to the http://socalfjcruiserforums.com/forums/index.php?board=29.0"]AAT forum for more detailed discussion on when, what, and hows. We'll be divided up into groups to do focused repairs. There's discussion of camping on Friday and possibly Saturday. Weather should be great. We'll do some work and also hit the trails. Please contact mattmainster if you can't access the forum. If you are not familiar with the AAT program, please take a look at http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/socal-region/46966-socal-fj-cruisers-adopt-trail.html

Here's a link to a SBNF http://www.bluestarshome.com/images/SBtrails.jpg"]map with some trails highlighted.

Horse Springs Camp Ground will be our rally point once we make it into the mountain. The map of the campground is: Google Maps

Detailed maps of the trail and campground can be found in CADavebert's post here.

Hope you can make it Piper. I've put you down as a maybe.

btw, does anyone have and know how to operate a chainsaw?
What do we need a chain saw for? The forest service has them for us to use don't they? Did you ever get a response on the Orange Construction Fence as a temporary keep out barrier?

To use their chainsaw, you need to have chainsaw safety certification. I believe it's a 1 day course . Greg is on vacation and won't be back for 2 more weeks. When I go up on Friday, hopefully I can get to check out what materials are available for use. The SBNF volunteer that I've met at the show told me there's a work center/stock yard near the cabin that some of us will be staying at. I would much rather use the resource available at hand then to buy something out of our own pocket. It is ok to use the orange barriers. I'm hoping we can get the signage in time for the work day.

I asked about chainsaw because it would make moving large logs around easier-unless you just really like chopping things up with an axe. ;D

Are we talking about the same trail? I did not see a single tree along 3N59A the last few times I was there. lol Unless you're counting the Joshua Trees :)
