I'd like some input. I've allowed you to change votes so please feel free to discuss your selection.

ps. Would a mod please change the question to "Should we" instead of just "Should".

I say we get an adoption out the way and see how that plays out first.. then move on to the next!
Thanks Dom.

well said, my thoughts exactly.

I voted yes, but that was me jumping the gun. I should have voted Let's adopt and look for additional trails. I'm good with either.

I fixed it.
So far we have 8 votes and they are unanimous. Greg is extending a ride along to check out 3N03A. I've agreed to it but he's not responded with a date. I'll keep you all abreast of when and maybe we can head out there together.

CADavebert, I'll try and make the 5/31 trip to Horse Springs and maybe we'll re-evaluate 3N59A.
I've voted, and since it's 8-0, it's clearly obvious what choice I took. It's been mentioned before, but I think it's good to bring up one more time. It goes without saying that in order for the trail adoption to be successful, we need dedicated participation. In order to have sustained participation, we need people to be excited about getting out there, and have pride in our trail and our work. That said, 3N59A, as a trail, IS an extremely easy one. The scenery is breathtaking, but the road as it stands today, is a cakewalk and in good condition, even for stock 4x2s. For now, it's all about Luna Mountain and illegal hill climbs. Not trying to be a downer here, just wanted to level expectations for those that have never seen it firsthand.
I think it'll be a great idea to organize a quick trip out there so everyone can kind of check it out and start to plan how we're going to repair the area.

Make that 9-0.. I'll do my best to make the trip up there next weekend. Funds will be the only thing that holds me back.

I'm excited about the adoption and look forward to working the trail.

Make that 10-0. When is the trip out the check out the trails? If its the 31st, I'm already booked -I'll be running Cleghorn and 2N17X and camping at Silverwood lake. If its any other weekend I'm in.
The trip on the 31st is just an informal type of thing. Since I'll be in the general vicinity for the kitty trip, I wanted to run the family over there to see the area.

I believe Tony is trying to secure a date for an official run with the Ranger, and then other runs for everyone to see the trails in a more in depth manner.
I wish I can get Greg on speed dial, but that's just not the case! In the mean time, I'm waiting patiently for my emails.
Has it been confirmed that 3N59A is actually up for adoption? Everywhere I look it appears to be adopted and has been for the past decade. The Hegowee 4WD Club is the group that appears to be the caretakers of 3N59A.

Hopefully someone at the SBNF didn't make a mistake when suggesting the trail.

Perhaps someone can e-mail someone at the Hegowee 4WD club and ask them if they still think they are this trails caretaker. Perhaps, not only would we find that the 3N59A is available but also some adjacent trails too, who knows.

I see that everywhere too. We should definitely try and contact them.....Tony?
I just called Mark over at Hegowee and he confirmed that they are still caretakers of 3N59A.

Next?
That's messed up! I've talked to Greg about this he said it would be ours if we want it. Let me email him again specifically about this trail.

I think at this point, too many peoples time is being wasted and a simple list of EVERY road in Big Bear could be created and we can break it up into geographical sections and contact the caretakers to see what is and what is not available. After that, we should vote on an area then the trails that are available within it. Afterall, as long as there are some more difficult and most difficult trails in the area near what we maintain, who cares if they are ours or not. Our trail will be dialed in to whatever it is rated at and we'll just hit the surrounding trails maintained by others for more challenging runs. With that being said, some criteria for choosing an area should be: remote, easily accessible for our 4x2 members, a campground that can accommodate a fairly large party and let's not forget breathtaking views. I feet that at this point, we cannot rely on the information from the SBNF and therefore must take our own drastic steps to get us a or some trails soon before we 1.) get frustrated and give up or 2.) not have enough time to fix it before the snow and bad weather set in. After all, that's only about 5 to 6 months away.

What do you think?

It's possible that the Hegowee 4WD Club has adopted only a section of 3N59A instead of the entire trail.
