On a "last minute" descision, I decided to go hit up Wildomar on Sunday 9/14/2008 and posted up about this run just 30 minutes before departure. I can usually make this trip "Door to Dirt" in 1 hour but because of some delays (child needs, slow drivers, construction, etc...), it took us a bit longer than usual. In spite of the delays, we still made it there with plenty of daylight to wheel. Our intentions were t ojust wheel for a couple of hours then be home for dinner. However, my co-pilot was having a lot of fun and wanted me to always take the more hard lines so it was very motivating for me to stay longer.

I received a phone call from Jeff, (FJ4Fun) who met me up there with his son Ryan so we decided to do a night run as well. The whole day was without any carnage except for the one pic of my rock slider caressing a large rock as I passed a little too closely. :)

Re: 20080914 Wildomar OHV Area (Last Minute Run) Report

Thanks! I asked about posting a lot of pics in a previous report and people seem to want lots of pics, soooooo......

What's your preference? Sunrise, Mid Day, Sunset, Midnight? Hahahaha, I've done them all there now and that place is definitely different in the evening.

The one thing about Wildomar is that at some point along the trail, you will get trail rash from the brush! I have a video with sound from inside the vehicle on a previous run there. I'll see if I can post er up! It's like nails on a chalkboard with a few smacking of branches mixed in! :)

Nice pix looks like you had fun! 1 question, why so many antanna?
I am a Ham Radio operator and since you asked, I assume you are not so here is the breakdown:

  • 102" SS Whip on drivers side is HF (High Frequency) This allows me to do voice and images to stations all over the world.
  • 2M/73CM black antenna on the roof in the rear center is for local repeaters and allows for voice and data communications
  • 48" Wilson Flex antenna on the passenger side rear is for CB and I only installed it for trail runs to communicate between rigs.
  • The four bolt holes on the drivers side rear bumper is for my http://shakespeare-military.com/milproducts.asp?product=hfShakespeare Model 120 Series HF Antenna (12' - 32')

yeah im not cool enough to be HAM radio dude, and no-one can understand my accent over the phone so i doubt i'd be much help with a HAM.

Thanks!
Dude, it's quite the opposite of "being cool" Most Hams I know are extremely, um, er.... nevermind....

Also, for the record, I happen to have logged over 200 contacts with Aussies and never had a problem with the language yet. I assume you meant an Austrailian accent :)
