2008/08/16 FJ-Piper's SoCalFJ Meet & Eat Report
I’m very pleased with the turn out and thank you to all who made it. The food was great as usual and pleasantly surprised at how efficiently they handled our large group of which I believe the final count was 31. I give this restaurant a top rating for food, experience and service, but I’d like to know your thoughts.
We arrived around 4:30 and quickly found a parking area that was started by FJVP. Following FJVP was AWSM FJ and OtseCanuc and myself, FJ-Piper then IMachU (FJDave). After that, I went inside to get my drink on and wait for the others. As hindsight, I should’ve warned everyone about the “EyeShock” when entering The Northwoods Inn at daylight hours. The place is very dim inside and most people are somewhat blinded for a few minutes until your eyes adjust. Luckily, there were no accidents!
We sat at the bar area until about 5:15 then I notified the staff we were ready to be seated. There was no waiting, As soon as I told them, they started walking us back to our seats. Everything was ready, tables arranged, waters poured, peanuts on the table, ready to go.
I poked outside a couple of times to snap some pics while everyone was seated so that’s why they may seem out of order. As soon as the orders were taken, out came the famous Cheesy Bread, Bleu Cheese Salad and Red Cabbage Salad. All three of these items are so basic it’s pathetic however, they put some magic into it that makes it out of this world good!
After the dinners and deserts came and everyone was done eating, the bills were rapidly deployed and there was no confusion in the payment process, it all went extremely smooth. FJVP stepped up and volunteered to host the next Meet & Eat, saving my butt for being unprepared with names for the drawing. Thanks Tim for doing that.
After dinner we all congregated outside in the parking lot checking out each others rigs. This was the first time I ever seen people flocking around a rig other than Skersfan’s as AWSM FJ truly lives up to it’s name sporting many drooling mods that captivated most of us for quite a while. That is one Awesome rig there Dale! When we were all out of drool, we ventured over to check out MudLoving’s buldge. I don’t need to explain that one, just look at the last couple of pics below.
Thanks to everyone who attended and even to those who intended to or wanted to come but couldn’t, just make sure you make the next one.
Enjoy the pics…
