{run info update 7-26-08}
This run is going to be done on Sunday, August the 3rd. I'm thinking we could meet at Pio Pico Campground around 10:30AM and then continue over to Carvacre from there. I'll post up directions to Pio Pico soon.

Well, we San Diego FJers never get to run with our OC and LA friends. And I don't think that you guys have done much down here. I'm planning to put together a run on a medium - difficult trail in the near future. I was thinking at the end of June or the First weekend of July. I'm thinking it's time that you guys run Carvacre and if time permits we could always swing over to Otay and run some of the secret trails. After that we could have a little cookout on top of a mountain top then say our goodbyes.

I'm curious how many of you would like to come down and run some trails and have a trailside bbq? It would be a full day for you guys but I really think you would enjoy it.

If you are interested let me know which weekend and weekend day is best for you. Either the weekend of the June 28/29th, or August 2nd/3rd. I didn't want to try to squeeze in anything to close to Ouray.

Please respond if this interests you.

Peace

Re: San Diego Run - feeler

I`ve been wanting to run some san diego trails. Is carveacre more difficult than cleghorn or less? I keep hearing about truck haven also how is this trail compared to cleghorn? If we are choosing dates I would have do go for the last weekend in July the first weekend August is our wedding ann. so no can do.

Carvacre is more difficult in the sense that you don't get a chance to relax until you park it at the top. It's a mix of some short rock sections with crazy ruts and stuff. At the top is a bunch of boulders kind of like Moab. You start off from the road and climb up towards the summit. The first obstacle puts the FJ at a really fun teeter totter until Atrac pulls you through. A stock FJ could do this trail but a lifted one does it a lot smoother. At the top there are some tight areas that will cause some minor pin stripes. It's one of my favorite local trails. It's worth the drive.

With Ouray and the Kokopelli Trail on the dance card in the 3rd/4th week of July it's tough to commit to a date but I would very much like to go along with you all.

Keep the August dates in mind. It's looking like this is going to be better for most of the interested parties. I'll Bump this thread as we get closer and I will provide the camping info soon.

thanks all.
