Hey guys (and gals),

I'm on the Kitty trip, morning group, for May 31st. Since I'll be all the way out there, and have my family with me, I've decided to show them the trails and campground where we are proposing to adopt. This is not going to be an extensive run by any means. It would be 2WD friendly as well. I'll probably have a look at 3N59, 3N99, and 3N95. There are a couple other roads we'll be on as well, but those are some of the proposed adoption trails we looked at a couple weeks ago.

My family will be there, so this is going to be a slow, easy ride through the desert/wilderness/trail (whatever you want to call it). :D

If any one is interested in joining my family and I, feel free.

UPDATED MEETING POINT!!!!

We'll meet here at 12:30...

http://maps.google.com/maps

I think there is a Subway, and possibly other food options at that location. We'll grab some lunch (to go) and then roll to the Horse Spring Campground. Once there, we'll have lunch and possibly meet up with some others before hitting the trails.

If you need to contact me, send an e-mail to [email protected]. I'll forward that to my phone for the day.

Here's a map/picture of the area where we'll be going...

Dave, if you have the chance, can you check out the portion of 3N59A (E of Luna Mtn) that we weren't able to run last time? And...watch out for that rock in the road! ;D

This sounds like fun!!! I wanna go. As soon as Moe wakes up I hope he sees this thread. I'm sure he will let you know if we can make it with you guys. We have yet to go on any trail runs. His FJ is still a virgin; time to break it in. hehehe.

Dave,

I'll try and make it. I really like that area and it's really easy to get to. I'll let you know as it gets closer.

Doug, the portion of 3N59A that you're talking about extends into BLM land. I'm not sure if we're responsible or can work in BLM land.

I'm still waiting on Greg! :(

is this an acurate list of what's in use? http://www.sbnfa.org/ohvadopt.php

If so, looks like 3959A is already taken. Are the 3N59, 3N95 and 3N99 currently closed trails? Do we need a forest service key or combo to gain access?

thanks!

None of the trails in the area on my map (inside the circle) are closed, or at least they were open a few weeks ago.

As for the adoption list, I (we) are going by what our contact Greg, who runs the thing, has told us. That list may not be up to date. Good list though.

I wish there's a current list. That would've helpe our efforts immensely.

I'm still waiting on Greg! Maybe I should try and find his number and just call him. I know he's extremely busy so I'm trying to be patient :).

My reason for asking is that Greg already told you guys of one trail that was available but turned out to be taken, so I thought if we could find something like this adopt a trail site, that might be a good starting point to rule those out. Anyway, just trying to do my part... hahaha Sorry if I'm confusing things, I just want to get started, that's all. We should just pick any one and get a difficult trail as it opens later. we'll have quite a few people available for work details per the sign-up list. So I don't think we'll be undermanned.

We are on BoBonels Cleghorn run that day and are camping at Silverwood lake. Where are you all meeting up and at what time? We might be able to swing by and check it!

Map location of Mall ... Mervyn's at Victor Valley Mall
Depending if I can get away that day. If I can, I'd like to run with Bobonel in the morning and drive over to Horse Springs and meet up with Dave around 2pm. Run some trails and maybe drive all the way over to 3N03A and check that out.

Why don't you just come out and say it Tony! "READ THE F'N THREAD!" hahahaha thanks! i somehow missed CADaveberts meet location post.

I am down for running BoBoNels in the morning, stopping by camp to let the kids play while I set up the tent then heading up to 3N59A with ya if you want to. I will then probably return to camp as I think the kids would have had their fill for the day.

I think i am going to buy this 4 line DVR they have at fry's and connect a couple cheap CCTV cams to the rig to run these trails. i can then record the whole trail, and post up a link on the new website to stream the videos from my server of the whole trail, beginning to end, for others to see if they want. This will allow others who cannot make the trip to at least make a semi educated vote if they wanted to take the time to sit through 1, 2, or 3, hours of video. I'll just have to remember that potty breaks will need to be outside of the field of view of the cameras. hahaha

:D :D :D ;D

I only do that to newbs and you're not one. :p

Your camera setup sounds awesome. I can't even begin to figure out how you're going to do that, but the end result sounds great! If you're going to run to 3N59A and return later in the day, you're going to be kind of tired going back and forth. You've got little ones to take care of so I know how that'll be like. I'm trying to plan out the logistics for my run. Cleghorn, 2N17X, driving over to 3N59A, and through BB to 3N03A is going to a heck of a trip. Then there's the return trip!

Re: May 31 - basic visit to some proposed trails and Horse Spring campground

Hmmmm..., I was gonna skip out on 2N17X and only do Cleghorn due to kids present. I was not going to do 3N03A, just 3N59A. What I will do in the next couple of weekends though is 3N59A Camp near there, then 3N03A the next day before heading home. It will have to be after the 7th as I will be in a Toga. Muahahahahaha!

PM sent to you as well
