Yesterday at TTora event out at Johnson Valley.... We tried to go visit the Mailbox at SledgeHammer. We were all game untill we saw a 15 foot waterfall, about 4 of us did K-Turns for a half an hour and got out with no body damage. This event last weekend was fun and there will probably be a full report elsewhere. Lot's of desert flowers.

I don't have Pics of that waterfall yet because I ran out of film. It will pop up soon and I will show you.

Re: Dropping in at Sledgehammer.

This video gives you no idea of how tough that was. It was basically 7-8 foot straight up. 40 inch tires, the best off road equipment you can buy and a 450 horsepower engine.

Brett may be able to do it next year with his SAS, but I seriously doubt a IFS FJ is ever going to do it with out major, and I mean major front end damage. It is straight down, onto solid rock. Possibly with some major stone moving it could be done, but that really detracts from the obstacle.

A great day of wheeling with one of the best in the business, and of course POSTER BOY, Brett.

Re: Dropping in at Sledgehammer.

Isn't that the truth. Bob is right. With an IFS, I can see the Fjc passenger rear tire tilting up about 4 feet in the air just to get square to go straight down. During that it might slip and damage the drivers door and quarter panel. If you got that far with luck and great spotting you would then have to deal with your front bumper at the bottom of the fall. There was a section to the right of the fall that seamed like a better line but then that has other issues too. Bigger tires and a SAS is a start. Sledgehammer= body damage period. Bob you're one of the fabulous 7. Where you go.. I go and vise versa. :D
