hey everyone...originally posted this here: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...leghorn-march-2nd-sunrise-run.html#post849704 on the fj cruiser forums. let me know what you all think.

hey everyone, some of my friends and I havent been offroad in about a month and are planning a trip to cleghorn trail in California near Lytle Creek Rancho Cucamonga area this coming Sunday March 2nd in the early early morning, hence the term sunrise run. We have not decided an official time yet but the general idea is to either start the trail once the sun rises or be somewhere high on the trail as the sun is rising.

this trail is fairly easy and is 4x2 friendly but still has some places to give the 4x4's more of a challenge. run is open to everyone; a 4runner and a taco will also be coming from the TTORA forum so bring your friends.

some concerns are:

1. could there possibly be snow on some areas of the trail since it will be early morning(have seen ice before, can anyone validate or disprove this?).

2. early morning means people dont want to get up and go wheeling.

3. early morning also means its dark and some people arent comfortable with that because of poor contrast in the terrain.

please let me know any opinions on this or other ideas. we are thinking that we will meet at the Bass Pro shop off the 15fwy near Rancho at 5ish? express interest on this thread and I will start an official list and a more defined trail time. BTW, we could possible stop at the top of the trail to eat if you want to bring food to cook, just an idea.

Re: Cleghorn March 2nd, sunrise run

yes, it should be fun. cleghorn is a nice trail thats not too far away. several members on the fj cruiser forum have expressed concerns that lately this trail has had some damage done to it by the rain. hopefully my friend will be able to pre run sometime this week to confirm or disporve this, especially since a few of us are 4x2.

I wish it was that easy...I am alergic to penicillin so I have other antibiotics but take longer to work. I'm home bound for the next week. IT BLOWS!

Re: Cleghorn March 2nd, sunrise run

Hey there new to the forum. Would love to join in on the cleghorn run. was up there a few weeks ago but on the Sugarpine trail marked 2N49 which runs along just south of Cleghorn from Silverwood Lake (The entrance is just across from Silverwood Rec entrance). We entered from the other end which starts at Palm Ave off of the 215. There was still snow up there and we had to turn around when we ran into a couple of rubicons. Since that happened we decided to try Cleghorn another time. It would be awesome to run both trails since we would be going so early if there is any interest. Anyways, either way I am down. What time is everyone meeting?

Hi MakFJdonas1. Welcome to the forum. I think they are still working on the time. If not going there for sunrise, maybe 6am?

I thought MIR was just up there a couple of weekends ago and had issues with the trail being beaten up so bad he got stuck...Am I wrong?

You can avoid that part easily. Cleghorn is a fire road with a bunch of optionals. Just avoid the optionals if they are too beat up.

my thoughts exactly, there are plenty of bypass routes that anyone should be able to do. this is a good beginer trail but still has challenges for the more experienced.

we did Cleghorn last Sunday morning, the road has really been beat up by the rain, infact in one area you are almost forced to take the bypass trail as the main road is pretty near washed out. Have fun but somehow I think I would not call it a beginners run with side trails right now. I would call it abeat up beginners trail with a section beginners may not be comfortable with in it.
