Our daily driver 08 is down due to the ring gear bolts backing out and shearing off. The carrier is destroyed and can't be reused. This is a e-locker with stock gearing. I am having a lot of trouble finding a carrier to build back from. A stock replacement 3rd member from Toyota is crazy expensive. I found a complete rear end from a auto salvage yard for $1,750. Its a locker with 160k miles. I was told some 4runner differentials would work but I've yet to find out what years. I'm willing to put a non locker carrier back in just to get back on the road. Will a non locker work with a locker axle housing? The locker housing has a notch where the non locker axle housing is round where the 3rd bolts in. Any advice where I can get a OE rebuilt unit is greatly appreciated.
