    Alignment

    Hey guys,
I'm in a bad bad need for an alignment. There's a few shops around my area, but I'm not sure how good of a job they'll with with an after market suspension. Can you recommend any good places based on your experience. I'm in the Pomona area. I don't mind driving out of the way as long as I get good work, thanks.

I use Firestone's lifetime alignment deal. Its about $200, but that is good for the life of the vehicle. Well worth it IMO. I always take mine in after a big offroad trip just because.

I have the firestone alignment. Quality of work varies shop to shop.

    Re: Alignment

I would be wary of Firestone. I bought the lifetime deal and have tried 4 different shops. Each time it was either no better than when I dropped it off and sometimes it was even worse. I had my done a few weeks ago at Firestone, after having to wait 3 days for an appointment, and it was the same once again. I took it to Circle City Alignment in Corona the next day without an appointment and they confirmed it was still well out of alignment. The job was done in about 45 minutes. They have a coupon online for $59. They did a great job and I am finally back to tracking straight and true.

    Re: Alignment

The Firestone shop at the Plaza Camino Real in Oceanside has done mine twice now. The results have been very good. No issues.

    Re: Alignment

I've only had them do it once so far (The Firestone on Tustin Ave in Santa Ana), but when I brought it to them my steering wheel was waaay off from hitting a rock really hard when wheeling, and I needed big adjustments made anyway because I had never had it done and had lifted it and added aftermarket UCA's. They got the caster to the spec I asked for, recommended by AllPro (which is different than factory IIRC), and got the steering dead on. I came away very happy.

    Re: Alignment

The alignment contracts are to get more business, some shops use for good will and make good, others is just a toe adjustment and be done.

A thorough alignment takes time and you need to pay the technician for his effort. My Big O contract netted a few good alignments and several bad ones. CAARS in San Juan Capistrano charges about $75 and takes 1/2 hour or so for a complete job.

I hate this location. Unfortunately they're the most convenient.

Probably just luck of the draw who's working. They did a great job on mine and were very friendly etc. They even told me about a coupon they had recently that had expired and let me use it, and they gave me some other discount too. We'll see if my review is as rosy next time I use them though, lol
