The FJ looks so right on the dirt road :D
I like the convex mirror shot.
Started the run just past of Dulzura off of the Hwy 94 toward campo. We took Maron Rd from Hwy 94 to Otay Truck trail. Just follow the signs for Sundt Construction. As someone mentioned on here mentioned, there are a lot of offshoots to explore which we did. We tried to take the south Otay Truck Trail but had to turn around due to Sundt construction going on. We took Mine ridge Rd off of Otay Truck Trail heading back to the start. Ended up taking the north Truck Trail, which was an awesome trail for scenery and other sweet offshoots. The main rd, Otay Truck Trail is easy and well groomed. The offshoots can get a bit scary for a stock FJ and lack of experience. We ended up cutting the run short and exited at Otay Lakes Rd just west of a little resort there. Still spent almost 4 hours exploring and getting lost.
Pros: A lot of BLM area for open shooting, great views, easy trails for the most part. Great day trip.
Cons: Sundt construction.
Worked out for the best, though.
Cool pictures. Looks like your having alot of fun so far!
yeah i remember taking my fj out there the first weekend i had it that road aint bad at all the begining or the end if u start on the 94 use to have a nice little ledge and rutted out climb but i think the construction company graded it and fenced it out. were can u go shooting out there i ddnt see any places the last time i was there???????
Yeah that was the Macoco ranch area I think you are talking about. Seemed they were doing a lot of work out there before i left.
Bobonel "(i'm sort of a pen whore)....."
Hopefully, there are more good pics to come. My plan is to get out on the trails at least once a month. So many trails out there.
According to BLM and San Diego County Sherrif, the area over by the 94 just past Dulzura is all open shooting. Of course you have to meet all local regulations from BLM and eother local ordinances to shoot. We must have passed at least 5 different groups of people shooting. There is also a bad a$$ outdoor range down Maron RD.
Getting the FJ, so far, has been a great decision. My wife and I love being outdoors.
Hey Nos2Fly, are you going to hit up the Big Bear / Cleghorn event on June 2nd?
This FJ used to go to 11
